Bank statement PDF to Excel, without uploading your statement
Turn a bank or credit card statement PDF into a clean Excel sheet: one row per transaction, separate Debit and Credit columns, a category for each line and a summary that checks the numbers add up. The conversion runs inside your browser, so the statement is never sent to a server.
Free. No account. The PDF is read inside your browser and is never uploaded.
How to convert a statement
- Click Open your statement above and choose the PDF.
- If the statement is password protected, type its password. It is used only on your device, and it is never stored or sent.
- PDF Desk finds the transaction table on every page and shows a preview.
- Click Download Excel.
What the Excel file contains
| Sheet | What is on it |
|---|---|
| Transactions | Every transaction from every page on one sheet, in the order the statement lists them: date, description, debit, credit and balance where the statement has them, plus a Category column and the Page each row came from. Dates are real Excel dates and amounts are numbers, so sorting, filters and pivot tables work straight away. |
| Summary | The statement period, total money out, total money in, opening and closing balance (when the statement has a balance column), a month-by-month table, and the result of the balance or totals check. |
The Category column is filled from the description: UPI, NEFT, IMPS, RTGS, Salary, Cash/ATM, Card, EMI/Loan, Tax, Interest, Charges, Cheque and Auto-debit. Anything else is left blank rather than guessed.
Prefer CSV? The same data can be downloaded as a CSV file instead.
Checking the result
Where the statement has a running balance, every row is checked against the one before it. Where it prints totals, the rows are added up and compared. Rows that fail are highlighted in red in the Excel file, so you know exactly which lines to compare with the PDF. Total rows are left off the Transactions sheet so a pivot table does not count them twice.
Password-protected statements
Most banks email statements as password-protected PDFs. Enter the same password you would use to open it in any PDF reader; the email that carried the statement usually says what it is. The password never leaves your browser.
Why not just upload it to a converter?
A bank statement shows your account number, balance, salary, rent and who you pay. Most online converters upload it to their server to process it. PDF Desk reads it with code running in your own browser instead. You can check this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, go to the Network tab and watch while you convert. The file does not appear there. Anonymous usage counts are sent, as the privacy page describes, but never the file, its name or anything in it.
Debit and Credit, whichever way your bank prints them
Banks lay out amounts in different ways. All of these come out as numbers you can add up:
- Separate Withdrawal and Deposit (or Debit and Credit) columns are kept as they are.
- One Amount column with a Dr or Cr marker is split into Debit and Credit columns.
- Card statements that mark only the credits, with a "+" or "Cr", are split the same way, with the unmarked amounts as debits.
- Indian number formatting such as 1,25,000.00 and the ₹ sign are read correctly.
Bank-specific notes
The converter works on any statement that has a normal transaction table. These pages cover layouts that needed extra handling:
What it cannot do
- Scanned statements. A photo or scan of a statement has no text in it to read, and PDF Desk does not do OCR. It will say so rather than produce an empty file. A statement downloaded from net banking or received by email is not a scan.
- Very large files are limited only by your device's memory, since everything happens on it. There is no page limit set by PDF Desk.
- Unusual layouts can be misread. You see a preview before downloading, can add or remove pages from the table, adjust the columns, or drag a box around a table it missed with Mark a table. Remember layout saves your column fixes in your browser for the next statement with the same layout.
Questions
Is it really free?
Yes. No page limit, no watermark and no account. If paid features are ever added, the Refunds page will say so before anyone is charged.
My statement came out wrong. What now?
Use Mark a table or adjust the columns in the preview. If it still is not right, use the Feedback tab in the app and describe the layout, but please do not send the statement itself. The bank-specific fixes on these pages came from statements that did not convert properly at first.
