Remove the password from a PDF

How to remove the password
- Click Open the locked PDF above, then the big button on the page that opens, and choose the file.
- Type the password when asked. It is the one you already use to open the file; the email that carried a statement usually says what it is made of.
- Click Download unlocked copy. The new file opens without a password, and any limits on printing or copying are gone too. Your original file is not changed.
This needs the password
PDF Desk does not guess or break passwords. It opens the file with the password you type, exactly as a PDF reader would, and saves it again without the lock. If you do not know the password, ask whoever sent the file.
Some PDFs open without a password but stop you printing or copying text. Those open straight away here, and the copy you save has no restrictions.
Is it safe to do online?
Here, yes, because nothing is uploaded. Most "unlock PDF" sites send your statement and its password to their server. PDF Desk unlocks it with code running in this browser tab: the password is held in memory only while the file opens, and it is never stored or sent. Anonymous usage counts are sent, as the privacy page describes, but never the file, its name or the password.
Remember that the unlocked copy can be opened by anyone who gets hold of it. Keep it somewhere private, or add a password of your own before you send it on.

Can I convert the statement to Excel at the same time?

Does the unlocked copy keep its text?
Yes. Text stays selectable and searchable, and the layout is unchanged. In the rare case a file's encryption cannot be rewritten, its pages are saved as pictures instead, and PDF Desk still produces a copy without the password.
