Add a watermark to a PDF
Stamp a word or line across every page of a PDF: COPY, DRAFT, CONFIDENTIAL, or the name of the one company a document is meant for. The watermark is added in your browser, so the document is never uploaded.
Free. No account. Files are opened inside your browser and never uploaded.
Stamp ID copies before you share them
When you send a copy of your Aadhaar, PAN or passport for KYC, a watermark that says who it is for and when makes the copy much harder to reuse for anything else. The KYC copy button writes FOR KYC ONLY and today's date diagonally across each page. Add the name of the bank or company to the text for a stronger stamp, for example FOR HDFC BANK KYC ONLY.
How to watermark a PDF
- Click Open a PDF to watermark above, then the big button on the page that opens, and choose the file. Photos of an ID card can be opened directly too.
- Type the text, or click KYC copy, COPY, CONFIDENTIAL or DRAFT.
- Pick the layout (diagonal, straight across, or repeated over the whole page), the colour and how strong it looks.
- Click Add & download.
Can a watermark be removed?
By default the watermark is text placed over the page, which keeps the document's own text sharp and searchable. Someone with a PDF editor could delete it. Tick Make it hard to remove and every page is saved as a picture with the watermark burned in, so there is no separate watermark left to delete. The text can then no longer be selected or searched, and the file may be larger. For ID copies, that trade is usually worth it.
Text in Hindi and other scripts works too; it is added as a picture of the text.
